China’s exports rose by almost 24 per cent last month on a year earlier, adding to a string of recent monthly increases that underscore the resilience of trade in the world’s second-largest economy.
Exports added 23.9 per cent in dollar terms year-on-year in July, official data from China’s General Administration of Customs showed on Friday, down from growth of 27 per cent the month before.
Imports rose 27.5 per cent year on year in dollar terms in July, down from 36 per cent growth in June.
China’s economy has come under pressure this year, with official growth in the second quarter falling below an official target that was already the lowest in decades.
Its trade surplus in goods last year hit a record of $1.2tn, adding to concerns from trading partners over a perceived imbalance.
